As part of our ongoing update to the Softools platform, including both Workspace and Appstudio, over the next couple of weeks we will be releasing some changes to the platform to ensure security of user configuration and data is the highest we can make it. These changes should not impact use of the platform, but the following may be noticed - some slight font changes, especially in AppStudio - use of Softools within an iframe embedded in an external web page will have additional restrictions. (this is only where Softools is running in an iframe on a third party site) - if you think this may affect you, please contact support for questions and advise, stating the circumstances and detail of the setup so support might best help you - New Workspace security controls may block unapproved third-party embedding, custom widgets/scripts or non-HTTPS content

History (Last 30 days)

Platform Change - Record History is to be restricted to 12 monthsPlanned Maintenance

Description

In order to improve performance and reduce server data sizes, we will be making a change to the platform to only make available 12 months of record audit history for record changes. Record History is available from within a record and currently shows all changes to the record since it was created, irrespective of time. For details on the current operation of this feature, see here: https://support.softools.net/hc/en-gb/articles/212495166-History-and-Audit-Trail As part of this change, we will be moving record history older than 12 months to archive and then going forward will only be storing a rolling 12 months worth of record history. The archived history will not be accessible through workspace, but could be downloaded as a complete set if a client should need it. Deprecation of List ReportsPlanned Maintenance

Description

As part of our continuous development of the Softools platform, as advised several months ago through this channel, we will be deprecating old list reports at the end of June 2025. From now until then, all list reports will show a warning message to users indicating that the feature will not be available after June, with a recommendation that apps are migrated to new style reports and filters. If you have any questions or need support to migrate reports, please contact us through the normal support channels - support@softools.net

Platform update - notice of deprecation of 2 older featuresPlanned Maintenance

Description

We are Modernising Features and Saying Goodbye to Old Ones. As part of Softools continuous improvement program and the need for our platform's code base to be scalable and future proof we have released several new features, some of which overlap previous functions but the newer versions offer advantages for performance and scalability. Two specific features fall into this category; 1) -Table reports, which while similar to List reports offers lazy loading, clickable editing and more width control 2) Quick Filters - which is more responsive than the old filtering capability and provides a configurable filtering pane on reports and charts. For many months Softools has prevented List reports and the Old style filtering being used in new Apps or reports and their development has reached a stage of maturity where it is time to migrate older applications that use these old capabilities to the modern equivalent. Specifically, we will be deprecating List Reports and old style filters. This process will happen over the coming months and we will engage with clients to ensure a smooth transition. No changes will happen to client sites without consultation. All training/demo (non licensed) sites will be migrated automatically from September. Please contact us if this presents a concern. UPDATE

We are extending the date when List Reports will be deprecated to end of July. At that time, all List Report will no longer available and be replaced with a messaged informing users that the feature is deprecated and they need to be updated in Appstudio and converted to Table Reports. Please get in touch with the Softools support team through support@softools.net if there are any reports you would like us to convert to the new Table Report style - it is a really quick process which we can do for you without charge. Please ensure that all reports you use are converted before the end of July

UPDATE

In the coming days, we will be finalising the removal of the old style list reports and old filter panes. Having been through a lengthy consultation process for customers to migrate to new style table reports, this task is now being implemented. Any access to old list reports on apps will now show an error page saying the feature is no longer supported. App Builders will still have the option to migrate these old list reports to newer style table reports

UPDATE

As previously advised, a platform release is going out this morning which will remove List Report Functionality. This has been a long announced deprecation of an old feature, which has been replaced by the newer and better table reports. Please use the standard channel -support@softools.net if you have any questions In the coming days, the old style Filter field feature will also be removed.
